two things:
1) We're done making adjustments to the site, at least for now. More is planned for the future, but planned in that 'couple o' fuzzy ideas scribbled down somewhere' sort of way. Things should be stable for a bit.
B) an interesting thought occurred to me during a twitter conversation, and lit up a bunch of percolating concepts in the back of my head. I'm turning it into an essay, but as always, no writing piece is of any use without some research behind it. so I'd like to pose a few questions, if you're up for them.
You can find those questions below.
No need to answer all of them, or any of them, but answer whatever you're comfortable with, and as much as you can. if...if that's not too much to ask, that is.
- When do you feel it is okay to kill in video games (in general)?
- When do you feel, as a player, it is NOT okay?
- For both of the above, why?
- Has there been the death of a character or NPC that stuck with you in particular?
- How do you feel about attacking animals?
- Has there ever been a point where you were uncomfortable with something a game forced you to do, or a choice you had to make?
- Do your decisions in games reflect your (hypothetical) decisions in real life?
- What type of games do you like to play?
- Do different genres influence you to make different choices?
- What video game death (of any kind or genre or anything) do you remember the most vividly?
- Have you ever tried a pacifist run of a game?
Again, answer any number of them. We're just looking to get outside of our little echo chamber, and see how others feel.
